This month marks a year since my beloved Poppie Joe lost his battle with cancer. In August I ran the City2Surf in his honour for Fight Cancer Foundation and now I’m honouring the anniversary of his passing by joining forces again with Fight Cancer Foundation as Team Champion for another active event in Sydney.
Body Pass presents the Summer Starter, a 5 or 10km fun run on November 1st at Sydney Olympic Park. It’s a great way to keep fit, create some good karma and have fun with friends to welcome the beginning of summer!
As an ambassador for Body Pass I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to honour my Poppie’s memory than running the Summer Starter as Team Champion for Fight Cancer Foundation.
Fight Cancer Foundation is dedicated to the support, care and treatment of patients with leukaemia and other forms of cancer. Fight Cancer Foundation gives hope and saves the lives of cancer patients around Australia and overseas through significant projects including the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, funding for research into better treatment methods and early detection tests, the BMDI Cord Blood Bank, accommodation centres for rural, interstate and international cancer patients and their families during long term treatment, and education support programs for children fighting cancer. Through my own experience of losing my grandfather and my partnership with Fight Cancer Foundation, I have seen what a difference their work and support makes to cancer patients and their families during an incredibly difficult time.
So join me in keeping active and supporting the fight against cancer. I’ll keep you updated on how you can prepare with expert advice and training tips over the coming weeks!
